Rocket Taco in Whidbey Island

Super fresh and delicious food. With the name Rocket Taco you might think it's one of those super fast taco truck type places but it's not. Although the food did come pretty fast it's not like the greasy taco truck tacos. So much better.

Great flavor and fresh quality. Perfect tortillas. A small piece of Seattle on Whidbey Island - and the prices reflect that also. Still a great destination lunch spot.

Food is good, if you haven't been here before do try it at least once. But if you do be sure to bring at least 6 friends. The issue with their menu is that if you order either the deluxe or traditional tacos you get 3 for $12 or $9 but all 3 have to be the same protein. You can not mix to at least try what they have to offer, unless you bring lots of friends to get one of each type. And they don't sell a la carte.My only other gripe is the price, it has good flavor and there sauces are tasty but not $4 good as I had better for cheaper at other places. Also factor in that these are street taco sized. The side of beans is ok I wouldn't miss it if it wasn't there. If they lower the price, sell a la carte or at least let you pick 3 different kinds of taco then I would go back but I can't see myself spending $72 (deluxe) just to try all the flavors.

Really good food. Loved the tortillas, and carnitas! Definitely looking forward to coming back.

Worst Mexican food I have ever ate

This place is so good! Portions are a good size. If you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine this is a great place. I really liked the guacamole!!

Great tacos in a nice casual location. There is table tennis and shuffleboard in the back. The tacos are a tiny bit pricey for the size, but buying the Deluxe Tacos (three tacos with many extra toppings for twelve dollars) makes it worth it. Good vegetarian options too.

Amazing food, quick service, kid friendly... all around awesome place! They have fun lawn games and a great backyard patio. Really impressed with this local business!

The food was cold reason it was cold mixed order with to go sat there for 20 minutes past, went in to find out what's going on and there it was our food to go by then it was cold I had ordered two pacifico's she opened them and gave us limes so she new it was not Togo I regret not asking them to give us some fresh Tacos by then I was so hungry I had pain and ate one finished the pacifico's off to microwave although the food was good I just might give them another chance do I know now

These guys are good food, and they're hanging tough through this shutdown. Their product is good, and their delivery ain't so bad.

Delicious good, great atmosphere. The outdoor patio has yard games and allows dogs.

It's a good Taco place. I found the descriptions of the items to be very brief and found that the beef tacos description in store on the board to not include its served as a tostada.

As a born and raised Southern California native I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious this taco spot is! The flavors are on point and the portions are generous!I got the chips and Guac, a carnitas quesadilla, and the carnitas tacos! I felt like I could feed a small village with how much food I got 😂Would highly recommend!!!

Rocket Salad with chicken was soooo delicious. Indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend.

Did takeout over the weekend, and overall it was tasty. Hubs got the carnitas and they were crispy, tasty sauce too. I got the fish, which was well seasoned but they could've done with a dressed slaw instead of the plain cabbage. Also, I didn't think to ask for hot sauce to go with, and they really could've used a little heat. The beans were very good as well.

Loved the tacos here. Very fresh and tasty. More a traditional taco instead of the fast food type. Will definitely come back.

Some interesting and delicious tacos. We tried the deluxe carnitas with pickled red onions and really good guacamole, the chicken tacos, and the really interesting fish tacos with coconut cream and pineapple salsa. All served with a side of the best pinto beans I've ever tasted. Everything was really fresh and well prepared.

I drive from Stanwood just to eat their fish tacos because they are the most delicious tasting ingredients within Island, Snohomish, Whatcom and Skagit county!! 🤤🤤🤤 They're customer service is great too, but they're tacos are a must, thanks y'all!! 💯

Authentic street style tacos with amazing flavor. Highly recommend carnitas.

We got both the chicken and beef tacos. The beef tacos were good. The chicken ones weren't great. The toppings were cold.

It was the first week they were open for Sitting inside. still figuring out the new rules we have ,they did a great job with it.

What a treat! Menu was the perfect size with plenty of options, but not too many. Service was very friendly and helpful and there was good spacing in the outdoor patio seating for distancing.But oh, the TACO. Fresh made tortillas that were not too thick, and held together well. Fresh onions and cilantro atop tender meat. The carnitas has a good flavor--lacks the crisp of proper fried carnitas but it was still good and came with a tasty salsa verde. The special pork belly taco, on the other hand, will haunt my dreams. Perfect salt and seasonings. Crispy crunchy on the outside and melt-in-yo-mouth close-your-eyes-and-float-to-heaven on the inside. That should be on the permanent menu!

Rocket taco isn't your typical street taco place but in the best way possible. Whidbey Island has always has this very homely and inviting feel in thier restaurants and this one is the best of that and a fresh taco join. Hand made everything! I had the carnitas tacos with beans and it was amazing. I got a side of pico and chips, yum!

They have vegan options (with a no crema tweak). My family and I love it and the guacamole is amazing!

The food is pricey, but those sure are some good quesadillas.

Loved the tacos and the nearby ice cream. The black bean sweet potato, the beef tacos were totally awesome. 3 tacos were more than enough. The side of beans was a little salty.

The food was good, but not impressive. The homemade tortillas were a nice touch, and the food was well salted. I would be willing to give it another try, but it was not my favorite.

Recomended. Very tasty food, very good service. I dropped in on a cold day to get a bite to eat and warm up a bit. I had their tocos and coffee. Coffe was served in a french press, which I had to get some instructions on how to use. It was all good, left feeling really good.

Cozy, friendly staff took our order, food was excellent, priced were reasonable. Will definitely keep it on the shortlist when we return for our next visit.

I was really hoping the Carnitas would be better than the service, which I found unfriendly, not one smile or friendly acknowledgment from the young lady behind the counter. Sadly, I found the entire meal pretty bland. The Carnitas tasted as though it had come out of a can, mushy in texture with no flavor or punch to it. The side of beans was also very bland, the tiny sprinkle of cheese on them, pointless. Way too expensive for what they put on a plate. Very disappointing.

Delicious. We live close to the Cap Hill location and was consistent with the food here. Also next to the Whidbey Island Ice Cream company!

Tacos were ok. Good tortillas and very nice cashier. Just too expensive for tacos. Insane that tacos cost and people would be willing to pay $4 each. And word up with that tortilla soup, tasted like a bowl of enchilada sauce.

Super delicious, the Rocket Taco salad is definitely big enough for 2 people to share. Great customer service and didn't have to wait long for my food.

This place has amazing tacos!! I ordered 3 beef tacos for $12.00. The tacos were made with what seemed to be beef brisket and they were juicy,fresh and amazing!! There was a line when we arrived,it went quick and we had our fresh tacos and beer ready in less then 10 minutes. We ended up eating at bush point close by and did some fishing. I will definitely be back when I’m on the island. Stop by if you are in the area!

Interesting choice. Friendly staff. If you aren’t in any kind of hurry stop in. Food was delicious but wait time much longer than expected. Easy access and good parking.

Great food! Had a area in the back which had some yard games, (ping pong, foosball, ring toss etc.) there is also a ice cream place right next to it that has REALLY good icecream and THE BEST WAFFLE CONES!!

Great food but never really felt welcome on my 3 visits.

Great takeout or eat in patio. Usually have chicken tacos and burritos especially yummy too. Great margaritas.
